Society for Health Communication 2022 Annual Summit

COVID-19 Safety Update: May 20, 2022


The Society continues to monitor developments related to COVID-19 and the potential impact on the Annual Summit. We plan to hold the onsite event at the Moody College of Communication, UT, Austin. 

The health and safety of Summit attendees and the public at large is the Society’s top priority. We want to help you feel comfortable and enjoy the Summit while also adhering to the latest public health guidance to ensure we keep our communities safe.

Summit Requirements

  • Each onsite attendee will be asked to identify their physical distancing preferences visible as stickers on badges. We ask that all attendees pay attention to and respect these designations:

    • Red – Please maintain a reasonable distance

    • Yellow – No handshakes, fist or elbow bumps are OK

    • Green – Handshakes or hugs are OK

  • Notify the Society at [email protected] if you are diagnosed with COVID-19 within the 10 days after attending the Summit.


Summit Recommendations

  • Screen for symptoms before arriving on campus using the COVID-19 Screening Tool or other methods. If you’re feeling unwell or have symptoms, please do not attend any in-person events. 

  • Ensure a COVID negative test within 12 hours of Summit/event attendance. If you’re attending more than one event, please test each day. 

  • Follow the masking guidelines (based on CDC Guidelines and COVID-19 community levels):

    • Individuals at low risk do not need to wear a mask.

    • Individuals who are immunocompromised or at high risk should continue to take precautions.

    • Wearing a mask at the Summit is up to each individual. All attendees should be mindful of other attendees' health choice.

  • Get COVID-19 vaccinated and boosted and carry your vaccine card.

  • Wear a KN95 or N95 mask on all flights/public transit to the Summit to prevent infection and/or transmission to Summit attendees and staff.

 
Additional Information

Onsite registrants who are diagnosed with COVID-19 or are in mandatory quarantine are allowed to shift their registration to virtual. Notify [email protected] at least 72 hours prior to the event for assistance.

We will continue to monitor the situation and any changes to the event status will be communicated to all onsite Summit registrants through email.
